The dreaded Salt debate (Sodium Chloride)

5 Aug

As I have talked about in the drinking water section, there are organic minerals (which are good) and inorganic minerals (which are bad).  All salt is an inorganic mineral, most salts comes from the ocean but some are in the form of salt rocks crushed for our consuption. As mentioned your body can’t use inoganic minerals so your liver gets rid of them or will store suplus salt in your body. The only your way your body can store salt is with fluids, which means if you eat a lot of salt it’s more than likely you have fluid retension which adds to your weight. The only benefit of salt is it makes our food taste better so use sparingly. The only thing on this planet that convert a inorganic mineral into an organic mineral is plants. What can you do as an alternative, for salt get plants that live in or near the ocean such as crushed kelp, they are available in supermarkets and are believe it or not very high in sodium and magnesium. boil vege’s with crushed kelp, drain and the taste is the same as your salt, they may smell like boiling muscles but don’t taste like it.

If you have a garden make sure your plants are fed a diet of organic minerals like sodium, magnesium, calcium, iron and zinc. Most of your nurseries have mixtures made up, that way you get the right minerals to maintain a good healthy body.
